I was @ a meeting yesterday, when someone there revealed she was a “Hurricane Katrina” Survivor, and relocated here to ATL.

TMZ reports:
Fantasia Barrino’s overdose last night was caused by a combination of aspirin and a sleep aid … this according to the “American Idol” champ’s manager.
Her rep just released a statement saying:
Fantasia ingested the medication after feeling “overwhelmed by the lawsuit and the media attention” surrounding her relationship with her on-again, off-again boyfriend Antwaun Cook … who happens to be married.
The statement continues,”Last night, Fantasia was hospitalized. She took an overdose of aspirin and a sleep aid. Her injuries are not life threatening. She was dehydrated and exhausted at the time. Fantasia is stable now. She will be released from the hospital soon.”
The rep also explains that Fantasia “believed” Antwaun Cook when he told her “he was not happy in his marriage [to Paula Cook] and his heart was not in it.” Wait, there’s more…

Police sources confirm that she attempted to commit suicide. According to a report filed with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, officers responded on Monday at 8:43 p.m. to a suicide attempt call at a home on Bevington Place.
Police sources and sources close to the investigation say Barrino was found in the closet of the Glynmoor Lakes neighborhood home and she was taken to Mercy South Hospital at Carolinas Medical Center in Pineville.
According to the police report, Barrino was hospitalized with “possible internal injuries” after “ingesting medication.” The police report was classified as “suicide/overdose.”
Brian Dickens, who is Barrino’s manager in Maryland, is the one who notified CMPD that something was wrong with her, the police report stated. Wait, there’s more…
Fantasia’s manager, Brian Dickens, just released a statement saying the former “American Idol” champ is
“certain that she is not responsible for the deterioration of the Cook’s marriage.”
The statement goes on to say, “Fantasia will weather this storm with the dignity and grace that she has exemplified throughout a life in which she has repeatedly overcome obstacles and challenges. Fantasia’s faith in God, herself and family remain as strong as ever.”
As we previously reported, Paula Cook just filed for divorce from her husband Antwuan (Fantasia’s boyfriend).
