Zewdy Awalom,19, is an up-and-coming R&B singer whose voice has been compared to that of singer Beyonce. Here is mini-bio of Zewdy courtesy of Absolutepunk:
Born in New York City, in the early morning of July 4th, 1990, to an Ethiopian mother and an Eritrean father, Zewdy grew up in Union, New Jersey, where she polished her natural vocal skills, singing with her R&B vocalist/song writer/guitar player father and her sister, using Karaoke machine at home and singing along with the radio. Even at the age of two, she had a perfect pitch and could learn a song after only a couple of takes. At the age of four, she used to amaze visitors at home by playing any tune on the piano by ear.

Sugar Mafia @ Haute.Lanta Fashion Week
“Haute” is definitely an understatement when used to describe the 3rd Annual Hautelanta Fashion Week 2009. This fabulous array of fashion designers displayed their masterpiece collections to some of the worlds most sought after fashion buyers, celebrities, fashionistas, socialites and fashion connoisseurs.
Hotlanta Buzz had the opportunity to attend Tres Chic—an innovative movement of sleek and sexy clothes with a futuristic urban appeal. One of the most explosive collections of the night, and one of my ultimate favorites, was Sugar Mafia. This designer truly exemplifies the definition of urban chic. This is why Sugar Mafia is our Buzz Factor pick Wait, there’s more…

Savannah Georgia own Jamaal “Mali Music” Pollard is definitely creating that BUZZ in contemporary gospel music. Mali is a Singer, Songwriter, Producer , who is receiving national attention for his fresh take on Gospel Music. Since the age of 5, he’s been playing the piano, wrote his first song at 8, and since age 11, he has been actively pursuing his music ministry and career, and now has added acoustic guitar and electric bass to his instrumental repertoire. So Mali has literally been all about his music all his life. Mali told us his influences include legendary Sam Cooke and Otis Redding, and his sound is heavily inspired by the work of musical geniuses Bilal and D’Angelo. Mali wants his music to be free, boundless and uninhibited, but most importantly sending that positive message. Wait, there’s more…

A Day In The Life Of A Fli Pelican
“Exclusive”—out of the reach of the world and in short grasp of the “Selected.”
–Nino FP
One can expect a certain level of “exclusiveness” when referring to Detroit native Nino FP, 24, his team of Fli Pelicans, and his trendsetting movement, Fli Pelican Clothes Company. Its official, so hold tight to your New Era fitteds, because the Pelicans have landed. Wait, there’s more…

My brother Warren was constantly raving about this singer/songwriter named Maya, one of our former classmates at the famed performing arts school in New York, LaGuardia High School of Music & Art. “Tammi, you’ve got to check this girl out, she’s incredible.” I heard her music and became an instant fan. Her current CD “Junkyard Jewel” is a must have. My personal favorites are “Wash over” which has gospel undertones and most definitely the title track “Junkyard Jewel.”
