Remember the story of a young 6 year old girl, named Jasmina? She suffered from a rare and aggressive form of Leukemia. Jasmina captured the attention of various celebrities, and so many were touched by her story, especially Rihanna, and last December through the Make-a-Wish foundation, she even spent memorable moments with President Barack Obama at the White house. [click HERE for more of Jasmina's story]. So many rallied to try and find a bone-marrow match for young Jasmina, and even though she did find a match and underwent a bone marrow transplant, she sadly lost her battle to this disease on January 27. Jasmina’s mother is wondering why Rihanna has not yet reached out to the family.. she posted this tweet:
This is very unfortunate, if this is true, cause no matter how hectic or busy Rihanna may be, a card, a call, a text, some flowers, would have been expected.
Italian Vogue just relaunched its website with 3 new additions, one called Vogue Black, which focuses on African-American Fashion & Beauty. They have some great exclusive features on Tyra Banks & Fashion Icon & Trendsetter,Grace Jones..
What are your thoughts on this new website? Is it a great move for Vogue to create something that caters to our culture, and focuses on our fashion icons, trendsetters, etc… should it be something separate, or should it be something grouped in their main Vogue??
I personally don’t have an issue with it, because as with what Hotlanta Buzz strives to do, I believe Vogue Black is providing a “positive” resource catering to US, and not just sprinkled in amongst the “so-called mainstream”… and truth be told…WE are very much the “mainstream”, which is why a lot of media are creating outlets, specifically catering to the urban consumer… so it works for me.

Italian Vogue also launched Vogue Curvy, focused on the full-figured woman, and Vogue Talents, which focuses on up & coming talent in the fashion industry

Today Erykah Badu celebrates her 39th birthday…and in honor of her birthday & Flashback Friday, here’s one of my favorite classics from Ms. Badu…. “Call Tyrone”…This song never gets old.
“Now every time I ask you for a little cash, you say naw, but turn right around and ask me for some ass”
For a second week in a row, SOLDIER OF LOVE, retains the # 1 spot on the charts, with 694,000 units sold. The album last week sold an astonishing 502,000 copies making it the best sales week for an album by a group since AC/DC in 2008….Yes GROUP??.. who knew Sade was a group??…I didn’t. This is one group that clearly don’t mind letting one member have all the spotlight!!
SOLDIER OF LOVE marks Sade’s eighth album to rank in the top 10 among Billboard’s 200, making them the first group since Led Zeppelin to hold this accomplishment.
People Magazine reminds us that:
“Sade remains the voice of comfort to the wounded heart.”
Freaknic is coming back….maybe? “The Official Atlanta Freaknic Site”says it’ll be April 16-18 in Washington Park. It also says that the 2010 theme is “Super Freak,” and that Freaknic is a private event for members only. You must register on this site and pledge to not break the law.” It adds, “There are no nude pictures on this Web site.”
Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed says no way. Or rather, “I don’t believe it will materialize and it’s not my intention for the city to be supportive of it.” He points out that nobody has filed for a permit. It’s not clear who the organizers of the Web site are.”
Is this a hoax?? and if not, do we even want to bring back Freaknic???
I lose more & more respect for Peta’s tactics for pushing their cause.. They could care less of being respectful to HUMANS, all while fighting for the rights of ANIMALS…ridiculous.
PETA — People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals — is temporarily halting plans to run these ads, which feature the image of Tiger next to the line “Too much sex can be a bad thing.” The ad was intended to promote pet owners to have their pets spayed or neutered.
PETA tells TMZ, “In light of conversations we have had with Mr. Woods’ attorneys, plans to run our billboard are on hold at this time.”…….Uhmmmmmmmmmmm… you think?!?
This seems to be the topic of discussion, especially recently with Tameka Foster, ex wife of Usher Raymond. She even takes time to beef on Twitter with V-103′s Elle Duncan, because Elle made a joke about using “RAYMOND”…even though she’s not married to Usher either…[see clip below] Share and Enjoy:
